Man shot after striptease payment dispute

Suffolk police have one suspect in custory and are searchign for a second in an attempted robbery and shooting.

It happened on August 11th on the 800 block of E. Washington Street.


Police say Chester Donaldson, 38, asked met three girls early in the day and asked them to striptease dance for him in a van inside his auto repair garage.

Around 10:00 p.m., after the dance was over, police say a confusion over payment caused a fight.

One girl, 15, allegedly called her boyfriend, asking him to come to the business. Galvin R. Daughtrey, II, 20, and Daniel Lamont Bess, 22, responded to the call.


When they arrived, they allegedly demanded money from Donaldson and shot him in the leg.

Daughtrey turned himself in Wednesday afternoon. He faces charges of aggravated malicious wounding, attempted robbery, conspiracy, shooting within an occupied dwelling and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police are still looking for Bess, who is described as a black man, around 5'8" tall, weighing about 150 pounds. His last known address is the 600 block of Sunset Avenue in Suffolk.

Police say petitions have also been secured against the fifteen-year-old girl.

The victim was treated at Sentara Norfolk Hospital and later released.
