Witch Doctors kill/dismember a woman, hacked up a couple girls to make "magic charms" in Nigeria

Fetish killers dismember woman on farm in Nigeria

Killers in search of body parts to make magic charms hacked up a woman and severely injured two girls on remote farmland in central Nigeria, police have said.

Scores of people fled villages in the Oju district of Benue state, near the border with Cameroon, as word of the killing spread, prompting authorities to impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew.

"The woman's two ears were cut off, her hands were chopped off, her stomach was ripped open, her heart removed and her vagina was taken away," said a police spokesman from the state capital Makurdi.

Two girls who were with the woman also suffered deep machete cuts but survived the attack and are recovering in a local hospital, he added.

The attack occurred on Aug. 11, but the report reached state police command only on Tuesday because of poor communications.

Killing for rituals is common in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, where many believe witchcraft involving the use of human organs can make them instant millionaires or provide protection.

Nigeria is nominally divided equally between Christians and Muslims, but many mix these imported faiths with traditional beliefs.

Sorcerers often use human genitals, eyes, tongues and skulls to make charms.

In 2004, police discovered 83 decomposing, mutilated corpses in a raid on fetish shrines in a teak forest near Okija town in southeastern Anambra state. About 30 witch-doctors were arrested.

The former Anambra state governor, Chris Ngige, said he was taken to the forest to take an oath with some political sponsors before assuming office in 2003.

Defense Rests In Phil Spector Trial

Fifth Woman Testifies About Alleged Gunplay

The defense has conditionally rested its case in the Phil Spector murder trial, announcing that the music producer will not testify.

After that decision, Devra Robitaille, a former romantic interest of Spector, testified that the music producer threatened her at gunpoint twice about 10 years apart as she tried to leave his homes.

Other women called earlier by the prosecution described similar scenarios involving Spector.

Robitaille was called as a witness in the prosecution's rebuttal case, a move opposed by the defense on grounds the prosecution held back the witness for a surprise ending element. The judge disagreed.

Spector is accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson in 2003, a few hours after she went home with him from her job as a nightclub hostess.

Her body was slumped in a chair in the foyer, her purse slung over an arm. She died from a gunshot fired inside her mouth.

The defense claims she shot herself.

DNA Confirms Another James Brown Child

A woman has proven through DNA testing that she is a child of the late James Brown, said a longtime adviser to the soul singer. The woman is the third person to determine through DNA testing done after Brown's death that the singer is their father, Buddy Dallas told The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle on Monday.

About a dozen DNA tests have been performed. Some people have been ruled out as Brown's children, while other tests are pending, said Dallas, who would not release details about any of the newly found children.

Dallas did not return a message left Tuesday at his office by The Associated Press.

Brown's will, which is being disputed in court, names six children.

One of the children found through DNA testing is LaRhonda Petitt, a 45-year-old retired flight attendant and teacher in Houston. She said the test showed that there is a 99.99 percent probability she is Brown's daughter.

The paper reported a Florida woman confirmed she also is one of Brown's children, but told the paper she did not want to be publicly identified.

The DNA testing happened after Brown died Dec. 25 of heart failure at age 73.

One possible child of Brown's who hasn't had a DNA test is 6-year-old James Brown II, the son of Tomi Rae Hynie. Hynie was one of Brown's backup singers and said she is the singer's fourth wife. But Brown's attorneys continue to dispute that claim, and the boy and his mother are not in the singer's will.

Hynie's attorney, Robert Rosen, said she hasn't changed her mind about DNA testing for her son.

"She believes all the children should be treated equally," Rosen said. "If all the children agree to a DNA test, she will consent to one for James II."

A private guardian for the boy also opposes the test, Rosen said.

Transgendered freak arrested for practicing medicine without license

Police say transgendered man was providing injections for other transgendered people.

Police have arrested a transgendered man and accused him of providing silicone injections to other transgendered people at his home.

Francis Renee White, 36, faces two charges of practicing medicine without a license. Police spokeswoman Lt. Debbie George said White was providing the injections with the consent of the people who were receiving them.

White has no formal medical background or training. He is charged in two separate incidents that took place at his house on South Main Street in June 2006 and January 2007. George said it is possible that there are more cases of people he treated.
